A Message from the Hillcrest Baptist School Committee

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and lack of student registrations for the 2020 – 21 school year,  Hillcrest Baptist Church has decided to suspend academic operations of Hillcrest Baptist Church School for the 2020 – 2021 school year.  This decision to suspend will allow the Church to step back and monitor the situation with regards to the COVID-19 pandemic and economic environment.  The Church can plan for a re-start at some point in the future when the economic and health environments improve.

Thank You, Students, Parents, Teachers &
Staff . . .

As the school year winds down, we are especially thankful to our students, parents, teachers, and staff for your diligence and support over the past few weeks.  We salute all of you!

We are beginning to make preparations for the upcoming school year.  This is a reminder to our parents that we need you to complete your registration information by Friday, May 15.  We need this information so we can plan for staffing in the fall.

Finally, we encourage you to remember to pray for each other, and we will continue to pray for you.  The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. - Lamentations 3:22-23 (ESV)

Hillcrest Baptist School Principal

An Update from Ms. Portis - April 14, 2020
To the Parents of Hillcrest:
We hope that you and your family are safe and that you have felt the prayers of our community as we continue to navigate through the uncharted waters of Covid-19.

Hopefully, you have received the letter from the Hillcrest Baptist School Committee regarding tuition.  We ask that you follow through with the arrangements that have been made and make sure that you are current. Payments should be sent electronically or mailed to the school.

Teachers will continue to provide assignments for your child to complete. The committee is still evaluating the situation and will be informing you about the school's status.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at hillcrest30@comcast.net.

Finally, registration for the 2020-2021 school year has begun.  We encourage you to begin that process, as well.

Again, thank you for your support, and we will get through this together.  Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. - 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)
An Update from Ms. Portis - April 2, 2020
Coronavirus Update 3:  As most you of know, Gov. Kemp has closed public schools for the remainder of the year.  However, the Hillcrest School Board Committee has decided to continue to monitor the situation month by month instead of closing for the year.  We yet remain hopeful that things may change by May.  So the school will remain closed at least until the end of April. At that time, we will determine what is the best option for our students and staff.
Next week would normally be Spring Break, so take a break from school work and enjoy your families.  Please continue to pray for our leaders, our families, our Hillcrest Family.  Thank you again for your support and cooperation.
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.  Romans 8:28

An Update from Ms. Portis - April 1, 2020
ATTENTION HBS PARENTS!  Thank you to those who stopped by to receive your packets yesterday.  Hopefully, you've contacted your child's teacher to make other arrangements if you were unable to come.

Several of you had questions about tuition so we will be sending out information by mail that explains details regarding March and April tuition/expenses fees.  We certainly appreciate your support and cooperation as we continue to navigate through this storm.  We continue to place our hope in the Lord.  "The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous run to it and are safe." Proverbs 18:10

God Bless!
Hopefully, things are going well as you continue to help your children complete their school assignments.  We are continuing to monitor the situation and will keep you informed of any changes.  Remember, God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
- 1 Timothy 1:7 (NKJ)

Today, Governor Kemp announced that public schools will remain closed until April 24.  Hillcrest will follow the protocol of the state of Georgia and will reopen on April 27.  If there are any further changes in the schedule, we will let you know.

Teachers will be preparing an additional 2 weeks of assignments.  You may pick up your child's packet (K4-5th grade) on Tuesday, March 31 at the school during the hours 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.  If you are unable to come to the school during this time, please contact your child's teacher so that you can arrange to receive your packet.  Middle school students will continue their online assignments.

This has been an unprecedented experience for all of us, yet we remain confident that God will carry us through this situation.  Again, thank you for your support and cooperation.  We look forward to seeing everyone next month.

Finally, please continue to pray for each other, our community, and our nation.  Psalm 4:8 (ESV) - In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

For Parents:  In an abundance of caution and ongoing concern and in the best interest of our students and staff, we have decided to temporarily proceed with an indefinite closure of Hillcrest Baptist School, effective Tuesday, March 17th,  for a minimum of two weeks/until further notice due to growing concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.  Please click here to read the entire letter from the School Principal.
